Dave's Shave Of The Day - Venice

I've just been to Venice. One of the best things about being there - apart from the stunning buildings, amazing food, fantastic hotel and travelling around by boat - was having the chance to get a decent shave. We're currently getting a new bathroom, so shaving at home at the moment is not a relaxing experience by any stretch of the imagination as I'm having to use a sort of temporary shave den with a sink that you'd find it difficult to drown a mouse in.
I took to Venice* what you see in the above photos: a Fatip Piccolo, a Boker black-handled shavette, some Arko shave soap and and some Hawkins & Brimble after-shave balm. And they served me well, it was just me that was at fault. Maybe it was because the mirror in the bathroom was further away to what I'm used to at home, but I seemed to cut myself consistently. I mean, not major blood-jets, but enough to irritate me** and make me feel like I'd never had a shave with either a shavette or a double-edge safety razor before. Weird***.
Anyway. Back home again now and we return to normal service. But not a completed new bathroom, unfortunately. So it's back to the microscopic sink. Or lavandino microscopico as I believe they say in Italian.
* This wasn't, of course, the only stuff that I took to Venice. I took changes of clothes for four nights, wash stuff, a coat and shoes. And my girlfriend. And her three kids (16, 16 and 12). And my three kids (16, 14 and 9).
** I don't mean my skin was irritated by the razor. I mean irritate as in 'annoy'.
*** Although not that weird, if I'm honest. I never seem to have brilliant shaves when I go away, so this is not really anything new.
