Oh look what the postman brought. Actually, I'm still waiting for something else - a bay-rum-scented shaving cream. In the meantime, though, allow me to make the introductions. From the left and working our way across, we have:

FINE lather bowl. It promises 'explosive lather'. Blimey - I hope not. I don't want to have my face blown off. The embossed bottom of the lather bowl will definitely help build a better lather though (it's all to do with airflow*). It's also wider than the shaving mug I currently use, so it'll stop my shaving brush rattling off the sides and waking everyone in the house when I do one of my midnight shaves.

Proraso aftershave lotion. In my experience, you can't go far wrong with Proraso. I've been meaning to try aftershave lotion for a while now - I always tend to use aftershave balms - but have been put off by not wanting to smell like the perfume department in Selfridges. So I'm treading carefully and going with a trusted make.

Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream. Need I say more?**

Proraso pre-shave cream. As I said above, you can't go far wrong with Proraso, but it's so true that I thought it worth repeating. I have the green pre-shave cream**** too but I fancy a change so I'm trying this.

* Apparently.

** No, I needn't. I love the Coconut shaving cream and I'm pretty sure I'll love this too. Everyone swears by it and I can't see that I'll disagree with them. I've tried the Proraso sandalwood shaving cream and I really like that, so unless Taylor Of Old Bond Street have completely screwed up ... Damn - I said that I needn't say more, and what have I done?

*** I didn't. This is a reference to Victor Kiam's famous catchphrase in the Remington adverts in the 80s. Here's a fun fact - his middle name was 'Kermit'. In fact, his full name was Victor Kermit Kiam II. The first being his father, naturally. Second fun fact - he recorded his famous catchphrase 'I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company' in the native language of whichever country the advertisement it was being shown.

**** The cream itself isn't green. I mean the cream comes in a glass jar, with a green lid and label to emphasise the refreshing menthol qualities contained therein.
