The Razor: RazoRock Hawk V2 single-edge The Blade: Kai Captain Titan Mild The Cream: Taylor's Of Old Bond Street Coconut The Brush: The Guv'nor Pure Badger The Balm: The Bluebeards Revenge
The Shave:
First outing for the Hawk. It's a slightly different beast from a DE razor in terms of angles, so while I ended up with a perfectly good BBS shave I also ended up with a bit of razor burn, which I'm putting down to lack of familiarity with the razor. Or cack-handedness. Also – different blades. These are classed as 'mild'. I've used Feather Professional blades in my kamisori-style and shavette-style Feather Artist Club SS razors before and, forgive me if I'm wrong, but they're sharper than these Kai Captain Titans. Or pinks as they're commonly referred to. But I've never had any skin irritation from them. Gaping wounds and roaring waterfalls of blood, yes, but not irritation. I don't know – time and familiarity with the Hawk SE will tell.
I finished off with The Bluebeards Revenge post-shave balm, which suitably cooled and soothed the razor burn, after first stinging enough to make me exclaim 'Flipping heck. That flipping smarts.' out loud.*
Great end result, though. You could eat dinner off my face right now. A fine, upstanding young razor with impeccable manners and solid morals. He'll go far.
* I didn't say 'flipping' though. I said something else. Something very rude.
