Now we're talking.

This little beauty takes either standard double-edge razor blades (snapped in half, of course) or longer, double-edge blades (which you also snap in half). This dual useage is made possible through the cunning use of two different inserts which you receive when you buy one of these fantastic razors – one insert for the standard blades, one for the proprietary blades. I've only ever used the longer blades so can't comment on the razor's performance with the standard ones, but blimey, it's good.

It's extremely light in weight – so much so that I have to keep reminding myself that I'm actually holding a razor in my hand, as opposed to, say, a feather.* So the temptation when you're getting used to shaving with it is to use pressure. Don't. Not unless you want to be carving off segments of your face and collapsing to the floor, weak with blood loss. Start with the razor flat against your face, then angle it away gradually, using short, gentle downward movements until you find the right cutting angle.

If I had to sum up a shave with the Boker in one word, I'd probably go for 'glorious'. I was going to say 'erotic', but then you'd think I'm weird.

* Shaving yourself with a feather would, of course, be an extremely time-consumming and probably futile activity. And a very ticklish one. Unless it was a Feather, as in a Feather Platinum blade. Sorry - I'm rambling.
